An important part of the Business is furniture restoration. Some 25% of workshop time is spent restoring customers own furniture. From broken or loose chair joints to repairing damaged veneers, from re-polishing worn out tabletops to replacing missing castors, just about anything can be restored or repaired. There was once a cabinet that was very dear to a customer. It was an Oak sideboard badly damaged in a fire. The wood had suffered about 85% burns and the whole thing was black and charred. It is now rebuilt to its former glory (one door, one drawer and some rails are all that remains of the old cabinet but the difference is indiscernible).
This sort of damage is extreme but anything from a small scratch to a whole top can be restored. A list of a few standard prices (including VAT) are as follows:-
•To strip and re-polish an average dining chair £50.00
•To re-glue an average dining chair £50.00
•To strip and refinish a table top per square ft. £15.00
Customers are quite welcome to deliver and collect their own furniture for restoration. However there may be a charge to collect and return furniture depending on the size of the job and the repair required. Other prices will be given before doing the restoration.
